This is a very old part of the Google search algorithm, and it has gotten a lot of attention by website owners over the past decade or so for a number of reasons. First of all, the way this concept sounds is simply very close to resembling the actual ranking of a website in search results. While there is correlation between website ranking and Google page rank, the two are not the same thing.
Google has said for years that page rank is a factor in website ranking, but it is a very small factor in how they choose to rank websites in their search results because they take hundreds if not thousands of factors into consideration. People often take the 200 number which Google sometimes quotes as something precise, but that is just a way for Google to express that they take many factors into consideration, and that those factors consistently evolve. I would not be surprised if there are over 5,000 different factors that Google takes into consideration when its algorithm decides how to rank websites.
In the video I also explain how Google decides which websites should have which page rank, and what page rank score different websites generally have.
Overall, I don’t recommend that you focus too much on page rank. As you grow your website and promote it with publicity and social media, you will get many good links to your website, and that will help your website rank in Google naturally over time. Just keep in mind that SEO is very long term strategy.
