Road Less Travelled is a new song from Alex Genadinik. In this song, Alex took inspiration from Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken This post is a review of Alex’s unique take on this artistic masterpiece.

The Meanings of Road Less Travelled

Life is full of different avenues and different ways of living. Each life is unique with its own experiences. What is normal for one person will not be normal for billions of others. I believe it was this idea that gave Robert Frost the inspiration for his work The Road Not Taken.

Alex Genadinik has now taken this work and made it into something extra special. The words are changed, ut they are also inspired by the original work of Robert Frost.

Song Lyrics

Verse One

Bracing for the glistening sword Another blow cut my battle short This moment echoed in my mind and didn’t budge As dignity became my judge

Chorus

Awareness wants to look away But her imagination likes to play Regret and pride fought as my mind unraveled Looking back at my road less travelled

Verse 2

Time heals unless self-pity’s your romance Wrong decisions kept me in a trance My baggage heavier, still I forged on Can’t veer off my road….too much time gone Looking back at my road less travelled

Bridge

I fought myself right from the start Keeping me from fully following my heart Don’t wish my road on anyone – it pained and left me stunned But you know what I faced it, fought, wavered, but didn’t run.

Verse 3

I thought I’d give another chance my all, Deep down I knew I’d cause myself to fall And though I’ve often longed for days without strife, What can I do? This turmoil made my life.

The Lyrics and Poem on This Post

The layout of the poem and song lyrics on my post is poor. This is because of the line spacing and what I am able to do with it. Please let me know if you know how to resolve this issue.

Road Less Travelled by Robert Frost

The Road Not Taken Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay In leaves, no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Instruments Used in Road Less Travelled

The main instruments in this song are Alex’s vocals and guitar. There is also a piano and a cello, but as in other songs by Alex, these latter two instruments are very subtle.

Thoughts on Road Less Travelled

The bridge makes a very interesting change to the song. It is heavier and more dramatic. Therefore, I prefer it to other aspects of the song. This brings out some real expression in the song.
