How to promote your business with your own event series and speaking at other events

In this tutorial, I explain how to promote and market your business with events by hosting your own event series, or leveraging existing events that are organized by other organizations or people. Personally, I have done this with every business I have ever tried to start, and I find this to be an extremely effective marketing strategy for a number of reasons.

The biggest reason I like to promote my business with events is that you are able to reach a modestly sized audience with which you are able to make a strong connection because the events are places where people meet face to face, and talk to one another. This is very different than most types of scalable online marketing because while you can reach many people online, it is hard to forge a true relationship with them because all people can see is text, links, pictures, and at best video.

Once you are able to create great business relationships by networking with people at events, you can get them to become fans of your business, and to help you by promoting your business, introducing you to interesting potential contacts, and by getting other benefits that can arise over time as you maintain the relationships that were started while you were promoting your business with events.

Door to door sales and marketing

In this tutorial I give tips, ideas and strategies for how to do door to door sales. I actually go over real cases that users of my marketing apps have told me about. I give examples of two real case studies of door to door marketing that worked to generate sales.

The first door to door sales strategy was for a home painting business owner who went around affluent neighborhoods and knocked on doors of homes which had old paint jobs. He knew that the people living there can afford his services and also needed his service. So that door to door sales technique worked for him.

Another door to door sales strategy for a different business owner was to bring along his child. People had a harder time saying no when there was a child there. That isn’t necessarily a great strategy, but it is one strategy that a user of my apps told me worked very well for him a long time ago.

3 Craigslist Marketing Strategies

In this tutorial I explain three different strategies for how you can run a business, and make money on Craigslist. The first strategy is an arbitrage model where you find a niche in which you can specialize. Once you have a product niche in which you specialize, you can buy products in that niche on Craigslist cheaply, and sell them more expensively. This strategy works even better if you are able to repair broken items, and then sell them for a price.

Free Giveaway Strategy On CraigsList Marketing

Another strategy is to do free promotions with your Amazon Kindle books, and post those free offers on CraigsList’s free section. This can help to drive your free Kindle book downloads, and ultimately rank highly on Amazon.

The strategy of selling or giving away free things on CraigsList as part of your overall marketing strategy is something that can be applied to much of online marketing. Here is why. Much of online marketing is algorithm based gaming of search engines. And search engines like to see rapid growth of whatever your product is. So if you can funnel many people to your product from your CraigsList marketing, it will cause a spike in traffic or sales to be seen by the search engine on which you are trying to rank, and that can help you boost sales there.

Optimizing Your Title And Description On CraigsList

Lastly, you must make sure that your listing is optimized with a great headline, description, and photos. A title of your listing should contain proper keywords because many people searching Craigslist often use filters, and you must make sure that you use keywords that will ensure that your listing will show up even if people filter by keywords.

One thing I want to mention is that I keep being surprised by how many people don’t take care of the title and description in their CraigsList listings. You would think that it is the simplest thing to adjust, but many people neglect it. Don’t be one of those people, and make the title and description of your Craigslist postings work to your advantage.

Always Beware Of Scammers On CraigsList

There are many ways to make money on Craigslist, but I want to point out that there are also many scammers on that site. Be careful of buying or selling to people when the situation seems too good to be true.

The answer lies in two general truths. The first is that people still often prefer to have something in their hands that they can touch, feel, save on their desks or shelves and come back to when they are ready. They can save the flier in case they don’t necessarily need it right there and then, but think that they might make use of it later. The second reason flier marketing is still so effective is a little bit more practical. It is that YOU decide who gets the flier, and there are various levels of complexity for how you can decide on, and hone in on the most ideal people to whom to give your flyers. Precisely this hyper-targeting of your potentially ideal clients is what often makes marketing with flyers so effective.

Demographics, Psychographics and Geo-targeting With Flier Advertising

What are these fancy terms? Let me define them for you.

Demographics: measurable attributes of your target customers like age, sex (not “yes please” but male/female), education level, income level, where they live and the affluence of that neighborhood, their political affiliation, and many additional concrete and measurable attributes.

Psycho-graphics: these are not measurable but still important attributes about your target customers. These are things like interests, hobbies, needs, fears, desires, hopes, insecurities, things they feel that they are lacking and need in their lives.

Geo-graphics: this is basically where these people live. For many local businesses, you must find customers who are local and live within a certain radius.

Now let’s explore how you can identify the demographics, psycho-graphics and geo-targeting of your most ideal potential customers to whom you will give your flyers.
