What Are Offline Marketing Techniques And Strategies That Still Work?

I realize that we are all excited about online marketing. And online marketing is great. But many people are completely forgetting about offline marketing and in this article I am going to explain what you can do with offline marketing to give a really great boon to your business, build long-term business relationships, and get better feedback about your product. Offline marketing is still extremely important and almost every business should have an offline marketing strategy to compliment all their other marketing efforts. If you are new to marketing, here is our introduction to marketing. And here is a brief video tutorial for how to do offline marketing.

Networking With Business Cards

Marketing your business with business cards still works very well. Always carry business cards with you wherever you go. You can strike up conversations with people on any topic and then segue right into business. Of course, do ask people about what they are working on first. Show interest in their work, and if they are good people, they will ask you about your work as well. Additionally, always ask for their business card first. You can also attend events and talk to people about their businesses and your business. The real benefit here is that you will be potentially building lasting long-term business relationships because you get to meet people face to face and get to know them.

Business card marketing is still one of the most common and effective offline marketing strategies. Here is a link to my full business card marketing course.

Offline Marketing By Handing Out Flyers

Some people prefer to hand out flyers. In my experience I like this approach a little bit less than marketing with business cards because you miss the component of actually meeting the person and talking to them face to face.

Flier marketing is still one of the most common and effective offline marketing strategies. It tends to work best for local businesses or events.

Appearing On The Radio

You can contact radio stations in your local area and for that matter a greater area since you can call in remotely and be a guest. In the same vein, you can also appear on podcast episodes. To find shows which are looking for guests, take a look at a site called RadioGuestList.com which literally emails you daily opportunities to appear on the radio or podcasts. Of course, you can also pay to have an ad on podcasts or radio if you have a budget for it. But as explained, there is a great way to book guest appearances for yourself.

Speaking At Events

When you are running your business, you always want to position yourself as the thought leader in the space. One great way to do that is to speak at events. You might not only get clients from the people who are in the audience, but there may be some bloggers or journalists in the audience and if they like what you are doing, you may get extra coverage in their publication. Try to talk to as many people as possible after your talk, give out business cards, and always ask what the people you talk to are doing. Don’t just focus on your own sales.

Participating In The Local Community

Participating in local community events (or sponsoring them if you have the budget) can be a great way to get exposure for your business. Try to be active, proactive, and helpful in your local community. You may build many lasting business and personal relationships (business is personal anyway) and you may raise awareness about your business which may result in eventual clients or other kinds of help. Selling And Marketing Product Offline

If you are trying to sell a product that you or someone else created, there are a number of offline marketing strategies that can work well. The first strategy is to approach physical stores to see whether they would sell those products for you. Very often, they can drive a lot of sales. Regardless of whether a store will or will not carry your product, you can set up a stand at a flea market or a busy street and sell the products there on your own. The advantage of selling on your own is that you can see people’s reactions when they consider buying your product, and you can find out from them why they do or do not like it.

Problem With Offline Marketing

Of course, the problem with offline marketing is that it does not scale very well. There is only so much of you, and you can only be in one geographical area at a time. So make the most out of your offline marketing efforts when you do focus on it because there is only  a limited amount of it that you can really do.
